Regan Gascoigne is one of 12 celebrities showing off their skills in this year’s Dancing on Ice.
Dancer Regan is best know as the son of former England footballer Paul Gascoigne, who played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Rangers.
The 25-year-old, who also sings, is paired with American professional skater Karina Manta, who made her debut on the show last year with Graham Bell – but left in the second elimination.
Regan studied at the Hammond Ballet School before taking musical theatre at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts.
He went on to perform in The Nutcracker with the English National Ballet and has also sang on ITV’s The Real Full Monty.
Regan is openly bisexual and has spoken openly about his sexuality, including in an interview with Lorraine Kelly in 2019.
He told Lorraine he never “made a point of coming out” but rather “let it happen organically”.
After an article about his sexuality appeared in the media, Regan said he spoke to his dad about it for the first time, recalling that his response was: “I still love you no matter what”.
Regan has two siblings – Bianca, his half-sister, and Mason, who is 33.
Mason, 33, is the adopted son of Paul and Sheryl Gascoigne.
Bianca is a British glamour model and recently starred on Dancing With The Stars in Italy.
Regan will make his debut on the ITV series tonight.
He is currently the bookies’ favourite to win the show despite being yet to show off his skills on the rink.
Speaking ahead of the series, Regan said: “Obviously I dance and love dancing, but it’s the skill of this… I’ve always wanted to do it. Always! Ever since I was a kid!”
He said he would love to see his football star father ice skating again, adding that he might take him for some lessons.
Paul, 55, was meant to take part in an ice skating special of Strictly Come Dancing many years ago but had to be replaced by fellow footballer David Seaman after an injury.
“I think he’s been on the ice a few times,” Regan said. “He did that show a long time ago and I don’t think he was very good at it.
“But I would love to see him back on the ice. Maybe after this I’ll have to take him for a couple of lessons.”
He said he plans to “get out there, enjoy this weekend and give it my best and see what happens”.
Regan said he feels that “everyone is competition” but admitted that he got nervous after watching Cole’s routine.
“Brendan Cole has got an amazing dance background and his performance on Sunday was amazing,” he said.
“So especially after watching him I was like, ‘Wow, now the nerves are kicking in’.
“But I think everyone’s just as good competition as the next person.”
He admitted that his own background in performing and being on stage will help him within the competition but feels learning to dance on ice was a “totally different ballgame” as he had never skated before.
