As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting creators, we’re beginning to test a number of new tools that allow creators to experiment with different ways to monetize what they’re creating at Horizon Worlds. will enable While we’re launching this today as a trial run with a few creators to get their feedback, these types of tools are a step toward our long-term vision for the metaverse where creators can earn a living and people can use digital goods, services and services. Can buy, and experience.
The Metaverse—by its nature not limited to physical space—will bring a whole new level of creativity and open new opportunities for the next generation of creators and businesses to pursue their passions and create livelihoods. Creators and entrepreneurs will have more freedom to find the business model that works for them. That’s why we’re excited to take that step today and expand further on $10 million Horizon Creators Fund We announced last October, which we are using to provide resources to Horizon Worlds creators. We will continue to work and test and learn with our maker community.
Selling Virtual Items and Effects
We’re starting a trial with some of the creators that will let them sell virtual items and effects in their world. For example, someone may create and sell attachable accessories for the fashion world or offer paid access to a new part of the world.
Items for purchase at Horizon Worlds are available to people 18+ in the US and Canada, where Horizon Worlds is currently available. Creators who sell items will see a commerce tab and gizmo when in create mode that lets them create purchasable items.
Bonus Program for Creators
In addition to introducing purchases to the world, we are beginning to test a Horizon Worlds Creator Bonus program for participants in the US.
These bonuses come in the form of goal-oriented monthly programs where creators are paid at the end of the month for their progress toward the goal. Creators are not subject to bonus fees and will be paid in full to the creators. For now, in this limited test, creators will be rewarded for creating the worlds that attract the most time spent, but over time we can develop these goals, for example, for creating worlds for our creators. To encourage adoption of new tools or features introduced by
Creators participating in any monetization program, including world purchases and creator bonuses, are required to comply with all of our policies for Horizon Worlds, including: Conduct in VR Policy And Horizon World Prohibited Content Policy To be eligible for earning. And as with any content in Horizon Worlds, if you see something that violates our policies, you can submit a report for us to review.
While our new Creator Bonus and in-world purchase tools are only in testing with a small number of creators today, we’re continuing to roll out more tools and support for all creators to make building new worlds even easier. Huh.
