There are a few exceptions
Users have been able to create Google Assistant routines in the past using the “When I tell my assistant” trigger found under Starters. One downside of this was that in the name of using natural speech, the labels could be overwhelming. As of Saturday, it looks like Google has made some changes to simplify the process and make it more practical, allowing users to name the routines however they like.
Users in a Reddit thread as reported by 9to5Google are noting that an editing function has been added to the routine. Open one and now just by tapping on the pencil icon you can name the routine whatever you like, no matter what the initial phrase. Google Assistant users on Reddit point out that the most notable aspect of this change is that you no longer need to give time-based starters any sort of special tag phrase — you set up a “when is the time” trigger. and call it whatever you want. Speaking of timing – this is another simple variation that lets you fine-tune assist routines with even less delay.
The new controls are still being rolled out to all users, and along with the more granular timing controls, Google Assistant has some limitations in terms of defaults. Users still cannot change names in pre-packaged bedtime, commuting home or work commuting routines. The addition of regular editing to Google Assistant is a welcome change, however, as it gives users more flexibility and control.
