Syracuse, N.Y. — An employee at a Syracuse check cashing business hid in a bathroom and called 911 Tuesday night during an attempted robbery, police said.
Just before 5:30 p.m., a man walked into Regina Check Cashing, 4141 South Salina St., and immediately asked for cash, Syracuse police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said. The business is located in the Valley Plaza.
The man appeared to have a black handgun, Malinowski said.
The employee grabbed her cell phone, locked herself in the bathroom of the business and called 911, Malinowski said.
The man walked out of the business and headed north on South Salina Street in a dark vehicle, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information about the attempted robbery to call the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222.
