Ballers’ Arlyn Broche has joined the cast of Young Rock as Dwayne Johnson’s college sweetheart Dany Garcia in season 2 of the hit NBC show.
Arlyn Broche has been cast as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s college sweetheart Dany Garcia in Young Rock. The hit comedy series follows Johnson’s early life before he reached international stardom. Young Rock debuted in 2021 and quickly became NBC’s number one show, garnering the largest audience the network has seen in years.
Set in 2032 with Dwayne Johnson running for President of the Unites States, Young Rock has the candidate interviewed by Randall Park — a future version of the actor turned journalist. The interview frames the sitcom’s structure into three periods of Johnson’s early life. Child actor Adrian Groulx plays a 10-year-old Johnson, Bradley Constant plays the actor at 15 years of age, and Marco Polo‘s Uli Latukefu plays The Rock into his late high school and college years.
Variety reports that Arlyn Broche has joined the cast for Young Rock season 2. Listed as a recurring guest star, Broche will play Dwayne Johnson’s college sweethart and Cuban-native Dany Garcia. In 1997, Garcia would marry the wrestler and later give birth to their daughter but would divorce in 2008. The couple have remained friends since and became business partners, with Garcia forming her production company Seven Bucks Productions and further managing Dwayne Johnson’s career.
Arlyn Broche’s breakout role was on the hit HBO TV show Ballers as Tonya in the drama’s second season, a show that also starred Dwayne Johnson and was produced by Dany Garcia. Although Broche is still a relative newcomer to the mainstream, the actor has had previous small roles on TV in such shows as SWAGG: The Web Series, The Haves and Have Nots, and Gravesend. Broche’s portrayal of Dany Garcia, such a pivotal player in Dwayne Johnson’s life, can be the role that lays the foundation for her budding career. Young Rock is also produced by WWE along with both Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia under Seven Bucks Productions.
Young Rock season 2 will continue Dwayne Johnson’s journey through his early school days but also leading into his college life. With the addition of Arlyn Broche it seems that this season will focus more on Johnson’s love life and the creation of their defining relationship, as well as The Rock’s initial foray into the world of professional wrestling. Although Johnson’s onscreen charismatic persona seems effortless, his first steps into the ring were anything but. The recently released Young Rock season 2 trailer even gives audiences a brief glimpse at The Rock’s first WWE character (then WWF), The Blue Chipper. Season 2 of Young Rock will debut on NBC on March 15.
