The landmark case is attracting experts, from body language gurus to legal sharks, who are coming up with their own observations and theories about the claims made by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard in court.
One such person is Rob Moreton, who is a litigator for over a decade and also loves to do woodwork. Through his newly-launched YouTube channel named ‘Law & Lumber’, he has also talked about Hollywood’s real life drama, currently unfolding in a Virginia court.

However, instead of discussing the whole trial that began on April 11, Moreton chose to explore a specific part of Heard’s testimony on his new page that says, “At Law & Lumber we’re going to discuss legal issues affecting the average person while also taking time to make some beautiful furniture in the woodshop. Join in and let’s make the law a little less complex and boring while exploring some fun things to make in the shop and little DIY tricks.”
While testifying in the court, the ‘Aquaman’ actress had given detailed information about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband. She also mentioned a specific incident that apparently happened on December 15, 2015, at Depp’s LA condominium when he allegedly assaulted her. While identifying the photo of a broken bed, she said, “It’s the bed that Johnny broke while on top of me.”
The 36-year-old actress had reportedly provided an elaborated account of the same incident during the UK trial in 2020. The testimony given by her at the time reportedly stated that the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Fact’ star had dragged her and went inside a bedroom before pushing her “face down into the mattress, smothering me and pulling out more hair”. She had added that the alleged assault left the “bedframe splintered.”
But Moreton through his analysis has tried to imply that Heard is lying. He claimed that the splintering of the bedframe, which the actress claimed happened because Depp, who was wearing boots at the time, put his foot pressure on it, is not possible. The YouTuber noted that the bedframe was made of timber wood and the way it was broken cannot be because of pressure from a boot, unless it’s a ‘spy boot’ that comes with sharp edges.
Besides, in the photo of the broken bed, which Heard identified in the court, Moreton noticed a pocket knife, indicating it might have been used to break it. He even went on to demonstrate this in his video. Moreton also pointed to the fact that the alleged abuse happened on December 15 but the photo was taken on December 16, hinting that there was enough time to “make up the evidence.”
Moreton shared the video on May 9 and more than 5k viewers have seen it with many people praising him for his eagle eyes and detailed analysis. One viewer commented: “The only thing I could imagine was that the wood was already pre-chipped by some unrelated incident and the boot just detached the splinter, but that’s not very compelling. Seeing how you pretty much exactly matched the break with that knife very much makes me think she went around creating evidence.” Another one said, “Holy! The end with the ‘unidentified object’ on the bed was truly a micdrop moment. Damn!!” “I am so happy you have a video!!
