If you’ve ever asked yourself, “does Killjoy like NFTs?” The answer is no. No, she does not. One of VALORANT’s official Twitter accounts showed us a day in Berlin with Killjoy, everyone’s loved German Genius.
Everything was fine and dandy; coffee and pretzel for breakfast, several tourist spots, and a very relatable game of League of Legends. Things took a rather surprising turn when an image of Killjoy enjoying art was posted.
This now-deleted Tweet shows our favorite sentinel admiring a work of art. The caption of the Tweet was made in Killjoy’s persona, implying that the piece was made through programming, and tagged the artist. The art that Killjoy is admiring was revealed to actually be a non-fungible token (NFT).
Shortly after, the Tweet was taken down and the Twitter account broke out of Killjoy’s persona momentarily. An apology tweet was issued, and reads:
Whoopsie! We’re always trying to give you new experiences and interesting facts on our local channels, including a look into Killjoy and her hometown of Berlin.
Since Killjoy loves programming, we wanted to introduce you to computer generated art from around the world. However, we were not aware that the selected work was an NFT. In no way did we intend to include NFTs as a part of Killjoy’s work and hobbies.
So there you go.
This isn’t the first time NFTs made their way into gaming, either. Check out how Atari is using NFTs.
