Valorant Credits System
Valorant can be considered a hybrid of CS: GO and Overwatch. While the latter does not have any buy system, Valorant has an economic system similar to the ones present in various Counter-Strike titles.
How To Get Money in Valorant
Every player starts the match with 800 Creds. While each kill in Valorant awards the player with 200 Creds, planting the spike is also important and provides an additional 300 Creds to all the members of the team.
Keep in mind that unlike CS: GO, securing frags with different weapons does not give different Creds. So, if you get a kill with a knife in Valorant, you will get 200 Creds.
The team that wins the round gets 3000 Creds per round. On the other hand, the losing team’s money changes with consecutive round losses.
- One round lost – 1900 Creds added
- Two rounds lost – 2400 Creds added
- Three rounds lost – 2900 Creds added (maximum loss bonus)
Although, if a player loses a round and survives to save a weapon, the player only receives 1000 Creds going into the next round. Moreover, the maximum amount of money in Valorant is 9000 Creds, so don’t shy away from sharing your wealth with your teammates.
This system ensures that the winning team does not roll over the other team, with the other team having a shot at making a comeback in the match. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be!

What Is a Half Buy, Full Buy and Force Buy?
If your team won’t be able to afford a full buy in the next round, some other options could secure a round win. A half-buy entails buying the necessary upgrades to give yourself a chance to win the round and making sure the next round’s minimum Creds are enough to get a full buy. It is also referred to as a Light buy.
Full Buy is loading up on all the important things — core abilities, Heavy Shields, and your weapon of choice. Most players opt for Vandal or Phantom but if you fancy using the Operator or the Odin, it’s best to buy when every member on the team buys fully.
Players can often find themselves in a situation where they need to completely buy to win a match or there’s no need to save the money. If your team calls for a force buy, you should invest everything you have and try to grab the round, stabilizing your economy in the Valorant match.

Bonus and Eco Rounds Strategy for Valorant Economy
After winning the pistol and the following round, players tend to call the third round the bonus round. Simply put, you invest as little as possible and try to steal this round and enemy weapons to build up your economy in the match.
Eco rounds or a Save round means players only play with their classic or pistols during this round. This is usually done right after a hard reset of the loss bonus, to build back the economy.
On top of this, you can also predict the opposing team’s buy by glancing over their Creds. If a player has 3900 (2900 Rifle+1000 Heavy Shields) or more credits, it is likely they are going to full buy. You can then play accordingly instead of getting caught off-guard!
With Episode 4 Act 1 already underway, it would be interesting to see if any changes to the money system make their way into Valorant. We’ll update this if this happens, so make sure to check back regularly!
