Arson investigators are seeking public assistance in the investigation of an arson explosion that damaged a occupied recreational vehicle in the Sunderland neighborhood.
On Monday, April 18, 2022, at 4:47 a.m., Portland Fire and Rescue (PF&R) was dispatched to a report of a fire on Northeast 33rd Avenue, south of Northeast Sunderland Avenue. Firefighters arrived and learned that the community members had doused the blaze with fire extinguishers.
They learned that the damage was caused by an explosive device. He informed arson investigators from PF&R and Portland Police, who responded to the scene. Preliminary information suggests a suspect or suspect in a large yellow box truck, possibly a moving-style rental truck, tossed or rolled an explosive device under the RV (photo). At the time of the explosion, a female adult was inside. She was unwell.
PPB and PF&R are requesting any information, accounts, videos or photographs of witnesses that will aid in the investigation. If anyone has information, please refer to Case Number 22-102510 and call Tip Line 503-823-FIRE or e-mail Detective Meredith Hopper at [email protected]
