Free Agency of the National Football League has brought us many surprises and we think it’s fair to explain how it works and the impact between the NFL teams. All players who have completed their contract are eligible for the rest of the franchises. The first thing to consider is the salary cap: No NFL team can exceed $198.2 million in the sum total of the amounts they pay each of their players. There are 2 types of free agents: restricted and unrestricted. On the one hand, restricted free agents are those who barely made it with their team and have the right to receive offers from other teams, which could be matched by their current franchise to prevent their departure. In addition, the institution from which the player leaves could receive an economic benefit and/or a Draft round. On the other hand, unrestricted free agents are those who have spent 4 seasons or more with at least 6 games played by each one on their team and who can sign with any other franchise without the need for it to provide money or a Draft round to change.Another factor to consider is the franchise player tag, which not only serves to have a better contract than the rest of his teammates, but also ensures his team stay for at least one more year in order to prevent it from becoming free agent. This benefit can only be used once per campaign.Free Agents 2022The 2022 class of free agents is packed with an unusually high number of members of the 2021 class who signed one-year deals in March because of the falling salary cap. We also started to see the impact of players looking for short second contracts in hopes of getting back on the market before their 30th birthday. Here’s a list of the top quarterbacks currently scheduled to be free agents in March 2022:Andy Dalton, Chicago BearsJames Winston, SaintsCam Newton, New England PatriotsMitchell Trubisky, Buffalo BillsMarcus Mariota, Las Vegas Raiders
