Daffodil Day in Ballinamoriwe
Congratulations to Nora Casey for organizing such a successful Daffodil Day in Ballina and thank you for the huge crowd that has come throughout the day to contribute to this very worthy cause. There was tea and coffee and lovely homemade cakes and sandwiches served throughout the day totaling €2,500.
Kids Muscari Final Score
Ballinagri ns had a very successful evening in the recent Scor na bepasti muscari final at Owens GAA Hall on Friday 8th April. All our contestants came home with the trophy after performing very confidently despite an unusually low turnout.
Our trith na gcst team of Christopherpatrick Eine and Lynette were given a taste of the competitive action despite the fact that they were the only team to compete.
Our ballad group consists of Niamh Ella Linette Katelyn and Orlaith who sang beautifully to take first place. He sang The Connemara Cradle Song Agus Pegin Litir Moir. Patrick brought home a trophy for second place with his masterful rendition of The Tamlin’ on the banjo.
Our instrumental group made up of Ella Cine Niamh Patrick and Olivia won the first place award for performances by Mo Ghail Mir and The Star of the County Down. To end the evening Ballinagri NS was awarded the Perpetual Trophy for the most successful school in the final.
So great to all the kids who worked so hard to prepare for the finals. We wish him all the best in the county final on June 10. Thanks to teachers Mrs. Brown and Miss Tomei and everyone who helped support the children.
Rylen Community Park 4 Mile Run/Walk
On Sunday April 10, the village of Rylen was buzzing with runners and walkers to run and walk 4 miles. The event was organized by Rylen Community Park Us. As a fundraiser for the development of Rylane Community Park. This was their first run/walk since 2019 and they were very excited to host the event again. More than 160 people of all ages and abilities crossed the start line at 2 p.m. to face the challenge of 4 miles from Knocknagon to Glunagloff and back to the finish line at Rylen Community Park.
First at the finish line in a time of 24/44 was Henry Brown, followed by Jason Nichol 24/54 and third-placed Willie O’Connor 24/57. The first female runner back was Jean Lucy 26/36, followed by Margaret Murphy 27/18 and third place Breeda McGinn 27/50. The first junior back in the time of 26/44 was Thomas Gillespie. Wheelchair athlete Jerry Ford came home in a time of 57/48.
Each entrant received a nice bag donated by various sponsors. Refreshments were served at the Rylen Community Hall where several post race reviews took place. Overall a very successful and well organized event and a year later to see in spring 2023 there will be future events for Rylen Community Park you will find it in this page.

‘The righteous are courageous’
The Rockchapel Community Center Committee is organizing a fundraiser in collaboration with Abside Players, which will present “The Righteous Are Bold,” a play by Frank Carney.
Directed by Mars Hobson, this three-act drama is a psychological thriller that is sure to keep you entertained till the end. The play, which opened to review last week in Abbeyfel, is set in the kitchen of a poor farmhouse on the West Ridge of Krogh Patrick in early 1945. It tells the story of a young woman who is haunted by evil spirits until she is banished by one. Elderly priest. It will be this Sunday, April 24th at 8pm, the doors will open at 7.15pm, there will also be a raffle at night.

The organizers of last Sunday’s fundraising Walk for Ukraine would like to thank everyone who made it a huge success and participated in such large numbers. The weather was good for us and the generosity of the people was outstanding. We raised a whopping €3,358.80 which was more than we expected. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped anyway and to everyone who donated money and sponsored drinks and snacks. All money raised will go towards the Irish Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal which will go some way to helping those affected by the war.
