scheduled tribe. Augustine, Fla. – A Minnesota man makes a stop in St. Augustine while biking across the country to raise money for breast cancer research.
Al Razel is on a 5,000-mile journey. This is his fifth time on such a mission.
“Going through chemotherapy, radiation, breast cancer, it’s tough work,” Razel said. “It’s just riding a bike.”
Ride is a personal one. Al’s wife Terri was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago. She is celebrating being cancer free, but the battle was not easy.
“It was very tough,” Terry said. “I had Al to help me with everything because there was so much. [There was an] Emotional aspect too. It was a really tough day and we don’t want people to go through this.”
“It affects immediate families, extended families, friends,” Al said. “It’s hard for everyone.”
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

Al started riding this bike in San Diego in early March.
Some of their stops include the Gila National Forest in Arizona, New Mexico, pit stops in Austin, Texas, and Louisiana.
He arrived at St. Augustine on Sunday morning.
Al’s final stop will likely be the Breast Cancer Research Center in New York City until April 29.
Her goal is to raise $20,000 to go toward breast cancer research.
“We meet a lot of survivors and it’s ‘hooray for us’ because there are other stories too,” Terry said.
“As long as we can continue to write and maybe wish some people to continue and work through their fights,” Al said.
It will make his effort worth every minute and mile.
