He was total. The New York Islanders were back in action on Saturday night after spending Friday in Dallas. The Blues also played the previous night, but only one of these teams looked like they were in back-to-back.
In the first period, Jordan Binnington was phenomenal in the nets for the Blues to rob some of Brock Nelson’s chances and a good Anders Lee’s chance. A familiar friend, Nick Lady, was the first to get the blues on board, the third of the season. Moments later, Vladimir Tarasenko reduced the rebound to 2-0.
In another, things didn’t get much better. Justin Faulk scored two goals in the space of 1:36 to extend St. Louis’ lead to 4-0. The first was in the high slot while the second showed us his baseball skills. Cardinals may be able to use their skills on diamonds.
Ivan Barbashev decided to have fun as well, making it a 5-0 game. Before the end of the period, we had an Islanders highlight to share. Grant Hutton scored his first career goal in front of the screen with Anders Lee.
Unfortunately, the islanders were completely drowned tonight, so they scored another 39 seconds later. This time it was Robert Thomas who found a soft spot in the defense who rattled a home to lift the Blues 6-1.
In the third period, the Islanders had few chances as the Blues were playing loose with no offense threat. The Islanders didn’t get to the back of the net as a forgettable period ends a night the Islanders would expect to forget as they fall 6-1 in St.
The Islanders are back in action Tuesday against the Penguins at the UBS Arena as the road trip now comes to an end.
