Whether it’s from their childhood, a name given because of their status, or family background, these K-drama stars are also known for their odd monikers.

Kang Dong Won

Before his fame as a versatile actor and appearing at the Cannes Film festival for his drama “Broker,” Kang Dong Won was also called “tuna” by some.

It is because his family owns one of South Korea’s largest canned tuna producers and his father is also the Vice President of PP Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., which is among the biggest shipbuilding companies worldwide.

Ma Dong Seok

Apart from being compared to Hollywood’s The Rock because of their similar physiques, Ma Dong Seok also has a surprising nickname.

During his appearance on Cultwo Show, he was asked about the reason behind his moniker such as “Mavely” and “Mayomi” which means lovely and cute in Korean.

According to an outlet, Ma Dong Seok says he is “grateful” for his nickname but he does not think that it matches his image.

In a report, the “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” star shared that he gave himself a nickname back when he was in elementary.

Kim Soo Hyun said that he used to call himself Kim Soo Man because he thought that his name Soo Hyun sounds “too feminine” which bothers him a lot.

As fans know, the actor came from a wealthy family. His great grandfather, Jung Yakyong, is an influential figure in the Joseon era. He was recognized for his written works on science, philosophy, and the government.

Meanwhile, Jung Hae In’s parents run a hospital in Seoul.

With his family background, the “Snowdrop” star earned the moniker “Milk Man,” which means he has superior genes.

It is basically a term of “GOAT” or greatest of all time in South Korea.

Lee Jung Jae

In 2014, Lee Jung Jae appeared in KBS 2TV’s “Entertainment Weekly” and was asked about his moniker.

He was once called “Lee Jung Jae the handsome” by fans, and during his interview, he candidly mentioned that he “really hopes to meet the fan” who gave him the said nickname.
