Emily in Paris, Lucien Laviscount has been upgraded to series regular for the drama’s third season, Netflix announced Sunday during the show’s Palefest event.
Laviscount plays Alfie, a sarcastic and charming cynic who was born and raised in London. Alfie and Emily met in French class, where their friendly relationship quickly turned romantic.

“She’s faced with a big decision. She has several doors to choose from at the end of Season 2, and our challenge is deciding which of those doors she’s going to choose and why,” says showrunner Darren Star previously told TVLine. “That’s going to be season 3. When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is, where is your heart? Is this the place you came from, or the place where you are at the moment? Emily is going to struggle with this as well.”
And although Emily has “very strong feelings” for Gabriel, Starr argues that Alfie should not be discounted. “I personally love Alfie. I wouldn’t write to Alfie, and I don’t think Emily should either,” Starr said, adding that “London isn’t too far from Paris.”
