SAN ANTONIO (April 15, 2022) – Office of Councilman McKee-Rodriguez, a property tax and mortgage assistance clinic for residents in District 2 at Second Baptist Church Community Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in collaboration with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and the Bexar Appraisal District will host. Center at 3310 E. Commerce St.
This clinic is not limited to District 2 residents as anyone in need of mortgage and property tax assistance can attend. Volunteers will assist homeowners in applying for exemptions to save on property taxes and assist with applications for the Texas Homeowner Assistance Fund. Our D2 staff will also be on site to report any component concerns and connect people to other resources.
“We often hear about how burdensome the property tax can be for our constituents, especially those with fixed income. We are collectively recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and many people still need assistance. This clinic is a tool we’re using to help our constituents understand their property tax bills, ask questions about the protest process, and apply for state relief. We thank Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid for what they continue to do for our communities and the Bexar County Assessment District for their willingness to assist,” said Councilman McKee-Rodriguez
“We want to make sure residents are aware of programs available to help with property taxes,” said Kelly Hogg, staff attorney for Texas Riogrande Legal Aid. “As a member of HECHO, our staff will assist homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to COVID-19 by pointing them to helpful resources and walking them through the process.”
