Following the release of Season 11 of Apex Legends last week, Respawn reveals that changes are coming to the Storm Point map in a future update.
While it might seem hard to believe, Season 11 of Apex Legends has already been out for over a week. From the new Legend Ash to the versatile CAR SMG, players have new options on offer when diving into the battlefield. Among the content introduced, perhaps the biggest highlight of this season is the new map, Storm Point.
Featuring a tropical island setting, Storm Point changes things considerably compared to the other maps found in Apex Legends. In addition to being the largest map to date, it introduces wildlife locations that allow players to fight Prowlers and Spiders for better loot. Besides adding wildlife hotspots, Storm Point opts for Gravity Cannons instead of the traditional Jumper Towers found throughout the other maps. While many people like the new look and features of the tropical island map, some have complained about a lack of cover in certain areas and issues with final circles. This prompted Apex Legends level designer Rodney Reece to ask players to send videos and screenshots highlighting problems with the map.
Following this request for feedback from the community last week, it appears that the developers at Respawn Entertainment have listened to concerned fans. Recently, it was revealed that changes were coming to the Storm Point map. In a tweet sent on November 10, Reece detailed the upcoming changes. According to the developer, the final circle locations are being adjusted to promote better endgames. In addition, he noted end circles “should never end on wildlife locations or buildings.” If this does happen, it is a bug that should be reported to the developers.
The developer told fans that changes were coming to cover as well. According to Reece, barricades and rocks are being altered on the Storm Point map, specifically in the area around Barometer. The focus is to make many rocks larger “to provide more cover.” And while the developers are adding extra cover throughout the map, they are concentrating on locations near choke points.
In addition to listing some of the changes planned in an upcoming update, Reece thanked fans for sending their feedback. He noted that screenshots and videos sent by players helped diagnose several problems with the new map. Furthermore, he said that an update for Apex Legends focusing on fixing Storm Point can be expected “long before the season is over.”
Besides changes to the new map, fans have been clamoring for fixes for glitchy footstep audio in Apex Legends. While it is unclear if this new update could include a solution for these issues, fans can take hope in knowing that the developers appear to be listening to feedback from the community. As Respawn prepares this patch for the game, it will be interesting to see the extent of these changes and how they play out in the battle royale.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
