The Boston Red Sox enter the 2022 season ranked 11th in Baseball America’s organizational rankings.

Boston jumped 10 spots from last February when it entered 2021 ranked 21st. The Red Sox were ranked 22nd entering 2020, 30th entering 2019, 23rd entering 2018 and 14th entering 2017.

Baseball America wrote, “Boston’s system isn’t the deepest, but its opening trio of shortstop Marcelo Mayer, first baseman Triston Casas and second baseman Nick Yorke is one of the most enticing. Righthander Brayan Bello took steps forward in 2021, including an appearance in Denver at the Futures Game.”

Mayer, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, is ranked 15th on Baseball America’s Top 100 list while Casas is ranked 19th and Yorke is ranked 31st. Jarren Duran is No. 91.

Bello is unranked on BA’s Top 100 list but recently was listed 86th on MLB.com’s Top 100.

The 19-year-old Mayer went 25-for-91 (.275) with a .377 on-base percentage, .440 slugging percentage, .817 OPS, three homers, four doubles, one triple, 17 RBIs, 25 runs, 15 walks, 27 strikeouts and seven steals in 26 games in the Florida Complex League after signing last summer.

Yorke, the 17th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, will turn 20 on April 2. The right-handed hitter batted .325 with a .412 on-base percentage, .516 slugging percentage, .928 OPS, 14 homers, 20 doubles, five triples, 76 runs, 62 RBIs and 13 steals in 97 games (442 plate appearances) at Low-A Salem and High-A Greenville. He struck out just 15.6% and had an 11.8% walk percentage.

Casas, who turned 22 in January, batted .279 with a .394 on-base percentage, .484 slugging percentage, .877 OPS, 14 homers, 15 doubles, three triples, 63 runs and 59 RBIs in 86 games (371 plate appearances) between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester. The left-handed hitter then went 29-for-78 (.372) with seven extra-base hits in 21 games in the Arizona Fall League.
