Kwik Trip milestone
Just eight years after opening its 400th store, Kwik Trip has now doubled the number of its locations.
The La Crosse-based convenience store retailer opened on Dec. 30 a 9,000-square-foot store in Holmen, its 800th store.
Kwik Trip was founded in 1965 in Eau Claire and opened its first store in La Crosse in 1971, followed by a corporate headquarters in 1973. By 1986, the company had 100 stores and grew to over 300 stores by 2003.
In 2017, Kwik Trip purchased 23 Madison-area PDQ stores and 11 more elsewhere in the state and in 2020 purchased 36 stores in Wisconsin and northern Illinois from Madison-based Stop-N-Go.
