Beasley Esports‘ “The Search” is over! After nearly an entire month of play, and tons of games, a new Rocket League organization is now born. The Zookeepers ended up taking the top prize over the weekend and now Bambii, Jbot and Tool are bonafide pro Rocket League players.

The Road Traveled

The Zookeepers went into this weekend feeling confident and played as a team possessed. Going up against Frequence in the Semifinals, Jbot seemed like he was everywhere at the same time. While Frequence would do a great job at starting well, over the series it became clear that Zookeepers just had too much for them.

On the other side of the bracket, a very strong team in Vibrance made quick work of Nefarious. Setting up what was sure to be a barn-burner of a match, two of the strongest teams in the entire bracket ended up in the Grand Finals.

Keepers Climb Back

The Grand Finals started off with Vibrance dominating the series. Oath, in particular, was smothering the Zookeepers’ goal and frustrating their counter-attack. On the backs of some really dynamic play, Vibrance would take the first two matches with relative ease. However, in match three Zookeepers were able to stop the onslaught with a big overtime goal from Tool. That big win seems to have been just what Zookeepers’ needed as they would turn it up in the next couple of games. Eventually, the best of 7 series tied at 3-all but eventually Zookeepers clinched the first Finals set.

Vibrance came back with a vengeance in the second set and crushed the Zookeepers, 4-1. The win from Vibrance forced a final best of seven set. This series was back and forth throughout with big performances from both Oath and Jbot. Game 6 panned out to be one of the tensest games of Rocket League you’ll see all year. The seesaw nature of the series was encapsulated in this single match and forced overtime at 3-3. Around, two and a half minutes into overtime Oath had a clear shot on goal only to see it cannon off the crossbar. The follow-up from Fefe would fly off the post. Less than 15 seconds later Jbot would pull off an audacious flick forcing the game 7.

Champion Status

Zookeepers got out to an early start in game 7 where Bambii fed Jbot an easy goal. But with 11 seconds left Astro from Vibrance equalized and forced yet another overtime. Faced with a golden goal situation, Bambii freed himself up in the midfield and got a clear double tap on goal.

And with that goal, Zookeepers win a professional Rocket League contract with Beasley Esports. The team name is Axle-R8 with Bambii, Tool, and Jbot now its first members.

More about Esports and the new Axle-R8 Rocket League team on Checkpoint Daily.
