The largest residents’ association in the French Quarter says it’s becoming an issue.
New Orleans city leaders say 18 films and TV shows are shooting in New Orleans right now.Three of those productions are happening in the French Quarter, and the largest residents’ association there says it’s becoming an issue.People living in that part of the city are finding it hard to park.The city tells WDSU Investigates:”It is against industry standards to disclose specific production and filming locations due to the possibility of attracting visitors, which causes parking challenges nearby that can place additional pressure on the neighborhoods and the surrounding communities. However, each production company is required to distribute flyers to affected residents and businesses 72 hours in advance of filming in a two-block radius of the location. The city charges $375 plus tax for the closure of up to seven (7) blocks per filming permit, and $500 plus tax for the closure of more than seven (7) blocks per filming permit. In addition, production companies must secure a police detail, which usually includes two to three officers to monitor the area utilized. In 2021, Film New Orleans issued 650 film/location permits.”
